The intimate connection between jamming in particulate systems and packing problems is a subject with a long and fascinating history. Often assuming only simple geometric models, such problems find applications in a diverse range of subjects. Today the interface between jamming and packing is the subject of intense scientific and technological interest that extends far beyond granular systems to encompass soft matter physics and biological cellular materials. The workshop's goal is to bring together experts working on packing problems in physics and related disciplines to shed light on newer developments in the field, with a particular focus on properties of random packings of non-spherical particles.
